Topic 1: Process Safety Engineering: What Exactly We Do

Synopsis: This session will cover key essentials of chemical process safety and how process safety engineers go about performing their roles and functions. Session also provide insights into process safety engineering works and how this complement process safety management, aligning to Safety Case requirements.

Speaker Profile: Er Koh Boon Haw

Er Koh Boon Haw is skilled in Process Safety & Fire Safety Engineering with 8 years’ experience in Shell. Proven projects delivery for clients such as Safety Case, Process Safety Assessment, HAZID, HAZOP, Desktop Safety Review, Pre-Startup Safety Review, Fire Safety Assessment, and Quantitative Risk Assessment. 

 

Topic 2: Managing Safety and Fire Safety in Chemical Laboratories: An IHL Sharing

Synopsis: This session will share the design considerations and good practices in the management of chemical laboratories in an institution of higher learning. Session also covers how flammables are stowed, handled, and controlled with respect to the Fire Safety Act requirements and SS 641 Fire safety for Labs using chemicals.

Speaker Profile: Ms Leong Kee Mei 

Ms Leong is the Director of Safety and Health with the Singapore Institute of Technology. She has 17 years of experience as registered safety professional. Among the pioneers in biosafety in Singapore, she entered the safety profession as biomedical sector was on the rise. She specialises in biosafety of high containment with experience leading the first high containment facility to be certified after BATA (Biological Agents and Toxins Act) 2005.
